A BOURNEMOUTH dad joined his son on the last leg of an epic 1000km bike ride as part of the inaugural Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust Charity Cycle Challenge.

David Stevens took part in the last section of the event with his son, Mark, who overcame cancer with the support of the charity.

Mark was just 21-years-old and at university when he was diagnosed with leukaemia and his life hung in the balance.

Now, 12 years on, the JPMorgan Brexit Project Manager, has taken part in the nine-day Largs to Cowes Charity Cycle in support of the charity that restored his sense of possibility after treatment.

When treatment ends the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust’s work begins because many young people find picking up where they left off before their diagnosis impossible. Mark first sailed with the Trust in 2009 after three years’ intensive treatment.
