GERVIS Place in Bournemouth was closed on Monday evening after a stabbing.Police were called to the road at 6.35pm.

A spokesperson from the force said: "We were called to reports of a man found with stab injuries.

"The man was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not believed to be life threatening."

Officers, including armed police, were called to the scene. They searched the area and closed off the stretch.

Bournemouth Echo:

A 19-year-old Poole man was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.

Police said on Tuesday morning that the man has been released from custody without charge.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "An investigation is underway to identify the offender."

Police taped off a stretch of the road between the EE shop and Westover Road. A bin and the front of a shop next to the R bus stop are also cordoned off.

MoreBus said all services were unable to serve Bournemouth Square during the closure. Outbound services used the flyover via Bournemouth Pier while inbound services served Westover Road and circled back via the pier. 

Initially, the incident was reported to the Echo as Gervis Road. It was reported that the road was closed between Meyrick Road and Manor Road.
