PROCEEDS from child tickets to this year's New Forest and Hampshire County Show are to be donated to charity, in memory of a young farmer and her unborn daughter.

Samantha Bailey, who lived in Tiptoe, Sway, worked as an estate agent who followed in the footsteps of her grandmother and mother, breeding and showing the Sandlea herd of Charolais cattle.

She fell ill in January 2018, and died eight days after losing her daughter, Florence, late in the pregnancy.

The New Forest Agricultural Show Society set up the Samantha and Florence Bailey Bursary in memory of Samantha, who was also a longstanding member of the event's Cattle Committee.

The charity aims to support young people in agricultural education, by funding those attending agricultural college, and paying for applicants to attend short courses to benefit their career in the industry.

Supported and administered by The New Forest Agricultural Show Society, the amount of subsidy provided by the bursary will depend on money raised throughout the year.

The 2019 New Forest Show takes place on July 30 and 31 and August 1 at New Park, Brockenhurst. Tickets are available to purchase online now from the New Forest Show website., with all children aged five to 15 able to enter for £1. Tickets are also available in person from Pot Pourri in Brockenhurst, Christchurch Information Centre and Ringwood Town Council.
