SUNSEEKERS will get even more choice from Bournemouth Airport next year when flights to Zakynthos begin.

This week,TUI UK announced weekly flights to the Greek island will start on May 3 2020.

The flights will operate on Sundays.

In addition, tourists can enjoy 10- and 11-night holidays to Dalaman and Corfu. The summer schedule will offer 42,000 additional seats to 14 destinations.

TUI's director of aviation planning Karen Switzer said: “We are very excited to launch our summer 2020 holidays with a new route from Bournemouth to Zakynthos.

"We are concentrating on providing more availability to our great range of holidays by expanding our regional flying programme. This will give holidaymakers even more choice when booking their holidays and the opportunity to experience our great range of hotel concepts and destinations.”

Stephen Gill, managing director at Bournemouth Airport, said: “This is further good news for local holidaymakers who prefer the convenience of flying from Bournemouth Airport.

"We look forward to welcoming passengers to TUI’s new routes to the Ionian Sea island of Zakynthos in Greece, with its stunning coastline and countryside scenery.”

The flights are just the latest in a slew of route to be announced by airport bosses.

In September last year, Ryanair announced a new route between Bournemouth and Prague. The following month, in October, the airline said Dublin flights would begin, while in November, it was revealed that Loganair's 37-seat Embraer 135 jet would be flying to Jersey and Guernsey.

This March, Ryanair announced it would launch extra flights to Alicante from the airport.

There will be flights to Spanish port city five times a week between July and September.
