LATEST figures suggest it is taking an average of 15-and-a-half weeks to sell a property in the Bournemouth postcode area.

Professional house-buying company Property Solvers, using the monthly-updated house markets insight tool, has analysed 1,172 property sales across the region between May 2018 and May 2019.

The data tracks the moment a property is listed on the UK property portal Rightmove to the point it is marked as officially ‘sold’ at the HM Land Registry.

In the BH3 postcode (Talbot Woods and Winton), out of the 11 tracked properties in the 12 months to May 2019, home sellers were waiting around 23 weeks from listing to completion.

In BH1 (Town Centre, Springbourne, East Cliff and Boscombe), 15 properties took an average of 19 weeks to sell. In the BH8, BH10, BH16 and BH20 postcodes, 193 sellers were waiting an average of 17 weeks to sell.

Properties were selling the fastest in postcodes starting with BH13 (Canford Cliffs, Sandbanks and Branksome Park).

Nine homes in these areas took an average of 10 weeks to sell.

In the BH2, BH4, BH14, BH15 and BH22 postcodes, 190 properties took between 13 and 14 weeks on average to complete.

Property Solvers co-founder Ruban Selvanayagam said: "Although there are some natural delays to be expected, it is surprising that it takes so long for house sales to go through – especially in the digital age we live in.

"Whilst it is true that the estate agency, conveyancing and mortgage industries continue to embrace the benefits of tech, much work needs to be done to overcome the friction across house sale chains."
