READERS are invited to a north Dorset town’s first literary festival.
Sturminster Newton is planning its inaugural literary festival on Saturday, June 15 as a fun day out for all the family with events both literary and musical taking place all day throughout the town centre, beginning at 9am and finishing at 9pm. The town’s clock will be turned back to the time of Thomas Hardy and people are invited to dress in Victorian costume and make Sturminster into a party for the day. Town retailers will also be joining in the fun.
There will also be a competition for the best dressed Victorian family for which there will be prize.
Starting from 10am there will be plays and readings and music scheduled around the town with a whole programme of activities including singing groups, to dance troupes to performing actors to Victorian schooldays.
