A WOMAN in her 30s is believed to have suffered life-changing injuries during an early-hours crash in rural Dorset today.

Police were called to the A30 near Sherborne shortly before 4am after a black Nissan Juke left the road and hit a hedge near the turning to Purse Caundle. Police say no other vehicles were involved.

The casualty, who is from Somerset, was rushed to Yeovil District Hospital for treatment to serious injuries that officers describe as 'potentially life-changing'.

Road closures were put in place to allow police and paramedics to attend and for an investigation to take place.

Sergeant Phil Lee, of the traffic unit, called for anyone with information to come forward by calling 101 and quoting 25:35.

“I would also ask anyone who was travelling along the A30 near Sherborne at the relevant time and has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to check their footage for anything relevant," Sgt Lee said.

“Finally, I would like to thank motorists and members of the public for their patience during the road closures, which were absolutely necessary to allow the emergency services to respond and for an examination of the scene to be carried out.”
