HEAVY and thundery showers could be on the cards for today.

Temperatures are set to drop following the weekend’s record-breaking weather.

Forecaster Jim Smith recorded a high of 25.4C in Springbourne on Saturday with all four days over the Easter weekend exceeding 21C.

As reported in the Daily Echo on Monday, Bournemouth and Poole welcomed 640,000 visitors over the sunny bank holiday weekend.

Easter Monday was the hottest on record for all four UK nations.

England reached the highest temperature with 25C recorded at Heathrow.

Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland also enjoyed their warmest Easter Sunday on record.

England's hottest Easter Sunday was in 2011 when temperatures reached 25.3C in Solent, Hampshire.

The weather will turn more unsettled from today with temperatures of around 14C today.

Weather forecaster Dorset Sun said: “Heavy thundery showers and much cooler temperatures from Wednesday.”

The rest of the week will see sunshine and showers, however, it could become more settled by the weekend.
