A POOLE post-punk band has raised more than £300 to help children and adults with disabilities.

Skaema released their debut album entitled Tales of the Expected in aid of Diverse Abilities, with two launch events held at the Lord Nelson in Poole and at Square Records in Wimborne.

Those in attendance were able to take an album away in return for a donation to the charity, which supports families throughout the county.

Duncan Gooch, Skaema band member, said: “We knew from an early stage that for the release of our debut album, Tales of the Expected, we wanted to not only use the launch weekend as a springboard to promote the album but to also involve a local charity in those events.

"Diverse Abilities are local to the band and a work colleague of frontman Neil has a son who has benefited from their fantastic work. We were also aware that Diverse Abilities support fundraising through music and their Sing to Raise initiative. The choice to nominate Diverse Abilities was an easy one.

“We were delighted to raise £312 through the two performances and album give-aways over the launch weekend and are already planning future events in partnership with Diverse Abilities.”
