POLICE are searching for a thief who smashed through a car window and stole more than 150 military medals from a trader at Wimborne Market.
The raider took a plain black box containing 162 single medals and some group medals from the vehicle, which was parked in the trader's car park at the market, sometime between noon and 12.20pm on Saturday, February 2.
A man then attempted to sell on some of the stolen items.
Officers investigating the theft have released a photo of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.
Police Community Support Investigator Cheryl Belfield, of East Dorset police, said the man pictured tried to sell some of the medals at Sunbury Antiques Market, which is held at Kempton Racecourse.
"I believe he may have important information that may assist my investigation," she said.
“Although the image is of poor quality this is the best we have and I still hope that someone may be able to recognise him."
Anyone with information is asked to contact police via dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting 55190017525.
