I AM writing to inform all subscribers to the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council garden waste collection scheme that in addition to the £42 subscription charge, we are also responsible for paying any maintenance costs, according to the person I spoke to at the council.
On a recent Friday I put the bin out with the lid fully attached.
It was then returned after emptying attached on one side only.
I was told that the damage was my responsibility and I would have to replace the bin at a cost of over £40.
It only required a small component to repair the bin costing about a £1.
But the council will not supply it.
I am prepared to pay for it and repair the bin myself, even though I was not responsible for the damage.
Is this fair?
