AERIAL pictures have been taken of the Highcliffe Castle zig-zag path as it nears completion.

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council shared images taken by a member of its engineering team which show the progress of the project. Among the recent work taking place is the installation of reclaimed hardwood timber cladding.

The path is due to re-open on Good Friday after work to reintroduce the coastal access path started in November.

A budget of almost £900,000, with significant contingencies included, was signed off by members of the former Christchurch council last year.

The project was given the go-ahead after residents won a campaign to ensure the work was carried out.

Initially councillors voted to not carry out the repair scheme, however following passionate work from the community, the council completed a U-turn and found resources to fund the project.
