A GROUP of mini 'eco-warriors' collected nine sacks of rubbish during a litter pick in Ringwood.

The 12 pupils from Ringwood Junior School, aged between eight and 11-years-old, took part in the tidy up as part of the Great British Spring Clean.

The youngsters kitted out in high-vis jackets cleared rubbish from local green spaces and a disused railway line using equipment loaned to them by the New Forest District Council.

Litter cleared included cardboard, plastic and drinks cans with items that could be recycled separated.

After all their hard work, the youngsters were treated to Easter eggs with the wrappers “carefully disposed of.”

Teacher Graham Crane, who led the litter pickers, said: “It’s been great for the children to take part in this activity, learning the importance of keeping our environment in good order.”
