POLICE investigating a spate of garage and shed burglaries in Broadstone have failed to contact a victim despite raiders leaving property at her address.

Burglars left a screwdriver and pliers behind after breaking into a garage in Keighley Avenue at 4am on Wednesday March 20.

It was one of a series of raids in the area between March 18 and 23 and the home owner notified police about the items left behind in the hope they may provide evidence.

But she said she has still not received a reply from officers nearly a week after the event.

The woman, who does not wish to be named, said she feels vulnerable as a result of the break-in and urged police to get in touch.

A spokesman for Dorset Police there have been a total of four burglaries to garages and sheds in the area and urged householders to make sure all parts of their property are secure.

He said officers establish whether there are any lines of inquiry to be carried out in relation to each incident before attending.

And he said victims will be made aware when a decision has been made.

"In the instances where it has been established there are no current further lines of enquiry to be conducted, this has been communicated to the victims who reported the offences.

"Investigations remain ongoing into the other matters and the local neighbourhood policing team has been made aware of the pattern of offending.

"Dorset Police is committed to investigating all offences as far as possible, however, a full assessment of risk, threat and harm is carried out before resources are allocated and in cases where there are no further proportionate lines of enquiry we will always endeavour to make the victims aware. If there is any further information that comes to light in relation to any of these incidents, they will be revisited and any proportionate enquiries undertaken."

The spokesman said suspected stolen property has been recovered from an address in Poole and work is ongoing to see if any of the property is linked to the offences in Broadstone.
