COME and see the improvements for yourselves.

That's the message from leaders at a Bournemouth primary school recently taken over by a successful multi-academy trust.

Kinson Primary School was graded Inadequate by Ofsted inspectors in January.

But rapid change is under way since the Ambitions Academies Trust(AAT) took over the school, now called Kinson Academy.

AAT has a reputation for making vast improvements at failing schools.

It runs Queens Park Academy, which it took from Special Measures to Outstanding in just three years, and Kings Park Academy which now has leadership graded as Outstanding.

Manorside Academy in Poole was failing but, three years after AAT took charge, it is rated as Outstanding, as is Elm Academy in Bournemouth.

The trust also runs Bayside Academy in Turlin Moor which has seen results improve since it took over last year.

At Kinson, in School Lane, Bournemouth, there are around 300 pupils enjoying small class sizes, spacious classrooms and vast outdoor playing areas.

Principal Michele Lawson and AAT's Director of Early Years and Primary Education, Alexandra Prout, are confident about the school's future.

Mrs Prout said: "We have a model of school improvement that is very successful and very rapid. Leaders in our five other primary schools have been coming in and working with Kinson. That gives confidence to the staff and the parents."

Mrs Lawson urged parents and prospective parents to visit the school to see the changes for themselves.

She stressed there is a new focus on lessons and homework and said pupils and parents are aware of the high expectations of the trust.

"Behaviour has improved - the children are calm and focused" she said. "There is also a focus on the subject knowledge of the teachers and consistency of expectation throughout the school."

A wide range of new clubs and activities have also been introduced at the school and the school has now a head boy and head girl, Ethan Chivers and Megan Thomas. A new uniform will be introduced shortly.
