DEMOLITION of the derelict Cliff End Hotel on Bournemouth's East Cliff is set to begin next week.
Planning permission has finally been granted to knock down the Manor Road hotel, which has stood empty for 17 years.
Although part of the building has collapsed, owners Meyrick Estate insist no formal demolition work has yet been carried out.
It suffered extensive damage in a fire in 2012.
Preparatory work will take place in the coming days and demolition will be carried out in the week beginning March 25.
Described as a “hulking monstrosity” by neighbours, the building will eventually be replaced by a seven-storey, 65-bed assisted living facility.
But no date has been fixed for construction of the new building.
