PLANS to build dozens of homes in Verwood are set to be approved on Wednesday.

Members of East Dorset District Council’s planning committee will consider Pennyfarthing Homes’ application to develop land in Edmondsham Road with a recommendation that it be approved.

The scheme is part of the ‘new neighbourhood’ proposed for north-western Verwood in the council’s key planning document.

More than a third (15) of the 43 homes the developer hopes to build would be ‘affordable’ and the proposal includes a £584,000 contribution towards the establishment of a new nature area.

In October the council granted planning permission for the firm’s nearby 230-home development.

Both form part of an area for development outlined in Christchurch and East Dorset councils’ local plan.

The latest proposal is set to be approved after it was backed by planning officer Elizabeth Adams.

“The proposed housing is well-designed, functional, visually attractive and will assist in deliverable sustainable residential development,” she says in her report.

“The proposal will not give rise to any significant amenity impacts on local residents or future site occupiers.”

She recommends that councillors grant planning permission for the scheme when they consider it on Wednesday.
