THE Post Office is proposing to relocate the current Alder Road Post Office to the nearby Co-op store, which is also situated on Poole's Alder Road.

Services would be provided from three low-screened counters which are part of the convenience store's retail counter.

A Post Office spokesman explained: "The current postmaster has resigned and the premises will no longer be available for Post Office use at 151 Alder Road.

"There is the opportunity to move the branch to the Co-op (164 Alder Road) and we are trying to avoid any temporary closure."

New opening hours would be Monday to Saturday, 6am-11pm.

The spokesman said: "The Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a public consultation and we are looking for feedback about accessibility, local community issues and anything that we can do to make life easier for our customers.

"The consultation will close on 23 April. Customers can share their views during the consultation online at postofficeviews.co.uk with the branch code 152508."
