A CHARITY providing vital support to the families of children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions is opening a new shop.

Julia's House, which has hospices in Corfe Mullen and Devizes, as well as nine shops across Dorset and two in Wiltshire, is now opening the doors of a store in Shaftesbury High Street.

The charity's chief executive Martin Edwards will officially open the shop at 10am on Friday, March 29, with one of the families supported by the charity performing the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Shop manager Tammy Sweet said: “We’d like to extend a warm welcome to Shaftesbury shoppers and invite them to pop in to meet our friendly team and have a browse through some of the amazing items we have in stock. We’re also keen to speak to anybody who would be interested in volunteering with us.

“We are accepting donations of good quality smaller items at the Shaftesbury shop but can also arrange to collect larger items including furniture and electrical goods."

The shop will be open from Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm. Drop-in sessions for anybody interested in volunteering roles will be held between 11am and 2pm on March 13 and 19. For more information contact Liz Froud on 01202 644220.
