FUNDRAISERS are being urged to put best foot forward and take part in a community event supporting women's health in Bournemouth.

Walk for Women's Health is hosting a Twilight Walk for Women in aid of women's health treatment at Bournemouth Hospital Charity.

The event – taking place on Friday, May 17 at Bournemouth Pier Approach – will once again bring the local community together to walk either 1km, 5km or 10km along the beachfront.

Twilight Walk for Women is one of the charity’s flagship events and has helped to support the many thousands of women who are treated at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital each year. The event has raised valuable funds to purchase equipment for the Jigsaw Building which is home to the Hospital’s breast care, gynaecological and early pregnancy departments.

Vanessa Wood, lead specialist nurse in the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit, said: “Almost all women will in some way or another encounter a gynaecological or breast health issue during the course of their lifetime.

"By investing in our women’s health diagnostic, early pregnancy and treatment centre, you will be ensuring we can invest in the best equipment and facilities for patients facing concerns with a range of health issues.”

Since the inaugural event in 2011, Twilight Walk for Women has raised in excess of £100,000 for women’s health treatment and has been designed to be accessible to all, no matter of age or ability, with participants able to walk, skip, jog or run. All people are encouraged to walk for women – including all husbands, brothers, uncles and friends.

Anyone wanting to sign up can do so at BHCharity.org/twilight/, by visiting the charity office in the Royal Bournemouth Hospital or by calling 01202 704060.
