POLICE are searching for a driver who crashed into another car while trying to overtake and then fled the scene.
The incident happened on the A337 between Lyndhurst and Cadnam in the New Forest just before 9.30pm on Friday.
A driver who was behind the wheel of a blue Nissan Micra was being followed by a dark-coloured vehicle. The motorist of the unidentified vehicle then attempted to overtake but had to suddenly cut back in due to oncoming vehicles.
As a result, the dark car crashed into the Micra, which span off the road and hit a tree. The dark vehicle failed to stop at the scene.
Police investigating the incident say they want to hear from any witnesses or those who have relevant dashcam footage.
Officers would also like to hear from anyone who has noticed a dark-coloured vehicle with recent damage to the front nearside.
