IT will be a networking event with a difference as Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry holds a yoga session to encourage business people to consider wellbeing.

Instructor Pip Traverner will lead the session on Wednesday, March 13, 8.30-9.20am, at the Yoga Studio on Ringwood Road, Poole.with businesses across Dorset invited.

The session is open to non-members as well as members of the chamber, including those who have never tried yoga and those with experience. It will feature easy-to-follow postures, breathing exercises and meditation.

Chamber president Liz Willingham said: “I am passionate about helping to highlight the importance of supporting mental health and wellbeing in Dorset’s businesses on all levels. Both management and their teams equally need to prioritise their health when pressures are high.

“Yoga with the Dorset Chamber is an alternative to the ‘traditional’ networking event, and reflects how many are now doing business – the ‘doing business on the golf course’ approach – this is a 40 minute stress bust whilst a great opportunity to chat with like-minded business people.

“There is still a stigma about discussing mental health issues and the workplace is often a major cause of individual stress. I am pleased that awareness in increasing but we must do all we can. I hope our business community will join me in March for the session; I defy anyone, whether they’re a yoga bunny or new to it, not to leave this session and feel pumped, ready for the day ahead.”

The yoga session will finish at 9.20am and will be followed by an opportunity to network, whilst enjoying a healthy juice provided by Blue Orange Juice bar.
