LIDL have applied for permission to demolish the former livestock market in Shaftesbury.
The supermarket chain plans to build a new store on the site.
A demolition statement says: “This project involves the strip out and demolition of Shaftesbury cattle market structures, including careful removal of asbestos cement roof sheets and wall cladding.”
Lidl purchased the site in Christys Lane from North Dorset District Council for a reported £1.9million.
