THE finance manager of Christchurch and East Dorset councils has been appointed as a director of a Bournemouth council-owned company.
Daniel Povey fills a vacant role overseeing the work of Seascape Group which builds homes across the borough.
Approved earlier this month, the appointment was made to “assist the alignment of financial reporting” ahead of the formation of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole council in April.
Mr Povey is filling the position left by Shaun Darcy, Bournemouth council’s assistant chief financial officer, who left the authority on February 4.
All Seascape director appointments require the approval of Bournemouth council and this was given by council leader Cllr John Beesley on February 15.
A report signed by Cllr Beesley says that Mr Povey has “the necessary skills and expertise” for the position and that he will help the company “segregate any potential conflicts of interest” and “strengthen governance”.
