AN inquest has been opened and adjourned following the death of a young soldier from Blandford Camp.

The body of Daniel Mark O'Grady, aged 21, was discovered close to Black Lane, Blandford, on the morning of Wednesday, February 20.

Coroner's officer Phillipa Morgan told the short hearing, which was held at the coroner's court in Bournemouth yesterday, that police were called following a report of an unresponsive male.

Ms Morgan said: "Ambulance and police attended the scene, where, following a search, identification was established.

"Further inquiries have been made which established Mr O'Grady was local military personnel from Blandford Camp.

"Police have confirmed that they are satisfied there are no suspicious circumstances relating to this incident.

"Family have been made aware and are being supported by specially-trained military officers."

A post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death as hanging.

Mr O'Grady was born in Bangor, Wales.
