The wintry blast, which arrived on February 24, heralded the start of the 'Beast from the East'. Forecasters said some parts of the country felt colder than the Arctic Circle.

Thousands hit the beach this weekend to enjoy the blue skies and warm sunshine as temperatures hit around 13C. According to BBC Weather, a new February record has been set for the UK, with 20.3C recorded at Trawsgoed, Ceredigion today.
While local forecaster Bournemouth & Poole Weather said temperatures had reached 17C in Bournemouth, which is usually seen in the second week of May.
Quite staggering this spell now. 17c reached in Bournemouth (at least) that equivalent to the average in the second week of May!

The sunshine is set to continue until Wednesday, with more seasonally appropriate weather making its return towards the tail end of the week.

It is just a month since the first snow of the winter fell in the county during late January.
