The 31-year-old from Dorchester was arrested on Wednesday after the Volkswagen Golf he was driving was in collision with an ambulance in Fairmile Road, near to the junction with Clarendon Road, at 2.35pm.
Police said prior to the incident, an unmarked police car had illuminated its lights and requested for the Golf to stop.
