THERE will be flipping good fun in Wimborne next month when the town’s popular pancake race returns.

This year’s event will take place on Shrove Tuesday which falls on March 5.

As always, the race till take place outside Wimborne Minster and the first race will begin at 11am when the bell is tolled.

Competitors must run around the Minster tossing their pancakes at the four corners of the church.

All participants should report to the north porch by 10.30am to sign up, armed with a frying pan and ready cooked pancake.

The event is open to all ages, individuals, schools, groups and organisations. Depending on the number of entrants, there will also be categories for youngsters aged four to nine-years-old, nine to 13-years-old and 13 to 18-years-old.

While over 18s will have the chance to win the John Loader Memorial Cup which will be presented by Martyn and Kathy Curtler and this year there will also be a new prize presented to the winner.

Entry forms are available from the Minster or the parish office in Church House. Participants can also just turn up on the day.

Last year, for the first time in 21 years, the event took place inside the Minster due to bad weather.
