A MAN has died weeks after a serious crash on a rural North Dorset road.

As reported in the Daily Echo, the casualty suffered "significant injuries" when a silver Peugeot Boxer panel van left the road in Tiley Knap, Middlemarsh at 5.50pm on Saturday, January 26.

The man, a 37-year-old from Sherborne, was the passenger of the van. He was trapped in the wreckage and was flown to Southampton General Hospital by air ambulance after he was cut free.

Police have now confirmed the man has since died of his injuries. His family is being supported by specially-trained family liaison officers.

The driver of the van, a 43-year-old man from Somerset, was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and taken to Dorset County Hospital by ambulance as a precaution.

He has been released under investigation as officers continue to make enquiries.
