1 Light Up Poole returns today and runs until Saturday. The free digital light art festival, which is now in its second year, will see the town transformed between 6pm and 9pm and will feature a series of light art, digital installations and participation events designed to cast a new light on Poole. This year’s theme is ‘Tides’ and visitors will be treated to more than 20 art spectacles which will be shown at various locations to in a bid to accentuate the town’s diverse landscapes, from the harbour’s natural beauty and the industrial expanse of the docks to the Old Town’s historic buildings and the urban setting of the High Street.

2 Swish of the Curtain theatre school presents Shrek The Musical at the Pavilion Theatre until Saturday. There are two performances each day; a matinee at 2pm with an evening show at 7pm. Tickets cost £16.

3 A family pond dipping event is being held at Hengistbury Head tomorrow. There are two 90-minute sessions taking place, one at 10am with another at 1pm. Costs £3 per child and the event is suitable for children aged five and over. Booking is essential.

4 Getting married? Bride: The Wedding Show comes to the BIC this weekend. The new event between 10am and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, aims to put couples in contact with wedding suppliers across the region from florists to stationers, bridal boutiques and photographers. There will also be three catwalk shows a day taking place at 11.30am, 1.15pm and 3pm. Tickets cost £5 each.

5 BIGLITTLE Theatre School's production of Little Women at Boscombe's Shelley Theatre continues today and tomorrow. Performances take place at 2.30pm and 7.30pm today and again at 7.30pm tomorrow night.

6 Eyes to the skies! The first ever Star Fest event comes to Church Farm Caravanning & Camping Park in Sixpenny Handley this weekend. There will be stargazing in the evenings, and family-friendly workshops and events during the day. Visitors will be treated to a travelling planetarium show, stargazing with the Wessex Astronomical Society, storytelling, astrophotography advice and demonstrations, as well as Interactive virtual reality workshops. The family-friendly event takes place between Friday and Sunday and people can take part in single events or the whole weekend. 7 Calling all yogis. One For All Hot Yoga in Bournemouth's Old Christchurch Road will celebrate its first anniversary with a weekend of free classes on Saturday and Sunday. 8 Bournemouth Natural Science Society Museum at 39 Christchurch Road is holding an open day on Saturday between 10am and 2pm. Entry is free and donations are welcomed. Visitors will be able to explore the museum's geology, archaeology and Egyptology collections.
