RECKLESS motorists are risking lives by ignoring No Entry signs to avoid lengthy traffic queues.

They are driving the wrong way through a narrow road into a retail park in order to avoid congestion on Ringwood Road in Poole.

Many are travelling at high speed although vehicles can be seen approaching from the opposite direction.

Now other road users have claimed their actions are "an accident waiting to happen."

The Daily Echo filmed dozens of drivers ignoring the road signs during rush hour on Thursday morning.

Vehicles are seen leaving Ringwood Road and entering the car park near Wickes and TKMaxx.

They then travel through the car park, rejoining traffic at the other end of the retail park near the Mountbatten roundabout.

We spoke to one cyclist who said he believes someone could be hurt as a result of the drivers' actions.

The man, who does not wish to be named, said: "I cycle through the Turbary retail car park on a daily basis and it is next to a road which is regularly choked with traffic.

"As a result cars divert through the car park to avoid the queues and appear at the other end. To make their gamble worthwhile they speed through the car park to make up time on the traffic.

"I even witnessed two cars racing one day. This is an accident waiting to happen with cars going through a No Entry sign with limited visibility the other side."

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We would encourage motorists to show patience and drive considerately at all times as well as obey all traffic signs.

"We would also urge anyone who sees any vehicles contravening traffic laws and putting members of the public at risk to report it to us at dorset.police.uk, via email 101@dorset.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101."
