ARTISTS facing barriers to the art world will be able to learn up-to-date skills, thanks to a new collaboration.

Award-winning arts charity Outside In is running a Leading Workshops place at Poole Museum, thanks to funding from Arts Council England.

The project is part of the charity’s training and professional development programme, Step Up, and has spaces for ten to 15 participants. Delivered by an experienced tutor in a series of half day sessions over ten weeks, it is designed to support artists in developing the skills needed to run workshops.

Outside In director and founder Marc Steene said: “Having held the Outside In: Alternative Visions exhibition at Poole Museum in the spring of last year, we are excited to now be continuing this partnership with our Step Up training. Partnerships - and courses - such as this one are vital in order to support artists to further develop their skills and gain employment and other opportunities in the art world.”

Applications for the course will open today and the deadline is Friday, March 22. Participants will need to be able to commit to attending the course every Monday at 12.30pm to 4.30pm between May 13 and July 22 (excluding May 27).

The cost of the course will be £20 per person. More about Step Up training can be found at outsidein.org.uk/Training
