A MAN who burgled a Bournemouth restaurant has been jailed.
Robbie Lee Lyons, of West Cliff Road, was sentenced at Poole Magistrates' Court on Friday (Feb 15) after admitting to the burglary of Cosy Club in Old Christchurch Road.
On Thursday, January 17, staff at the restaurant discovered that a work laptop was missing. On viewing CCTV footage they discovered that at 8.20am on Monday, January 14, a man had accessed a staff-only area and stolen the laptop, concealing it down the front of his trousers as he left the premises.
A local police officer visited Cosy Club and immediately recognised Lyons from the CCTV. The 40-year-old was arrested on Friday, January 18.
In court, he was sentenced to eight weeks in prison and ordered to pay £400 in compensation.
Police Constable Dan Gadsden, of Bournemouth police, said: “Our neighbourhood policing team is determined to help protect businesses from offenders such as Lyons, and I am glad that we were able to quickly identify him as the culprit for this crime so he could be brought before the court."
