POLICE were called to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on the A338 Spur Road.
The crash occurred on the northbound carriageway, just before the off slip at Blackwater yesterday.
A road closure was in place eastbound at the Cooper Dean sliproad.
It was reported to police at 2.29pm.
Dorset Police said initial reports said three vehicles were involved but four vehicles may have been involved.
Two ambulances and two police cars were called to the scene along with the local autority.
Two people were taken to Poole Hospital and one to Royal Bournemouth Hospital as a precaution.
Traffic snaked back to St Paul's roundabout on the A338 and many routes around Bournemouth were busier than normal.
The road was cleared at around 4.30pm but delays continued to affect motorists.
