Choir sessions

  • Christchurch: Water Lily Female Choir meets from 10am to 11am every Thursday at Bailey’s Cafe in Barrack Road, Christchurch during term time. Cost £1 per session.
  • Parkinson’s Club, Christchurch Branch, is hosting a get-together for Parkinson’s sufferers and their carers at the Community Hall in Marlow Drive, St Catherine’s Hill, Christchurch, at 2pm on Thursday, February 14. New members welcome.

Quizzes

  • Twynham at Home is hosting a get together with friendship, activities, refreshments, a mini quiz and chat for the more mature, at Twynham Church in Barrack Road, from 2pm to 4pm on Tuesday, February 12. Call 01202 473626 or email office@twynhamchurch.org for more information.

Share poetry

  • Poole central library’s poetry group meets on the second Saturday of each month. Call 01202 262401 to find out the theme, then come along and share your favourite poems with others. The next meeting is on February 9 from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Theatre production

  • Tall Tree Theatre and the Forest Forge Theatre Company will present Lily and the Albatross at Lighthouse on Wednesday February 29. Tickets cost £8 and are available by calling 01202 280000 or go to lighthousepoole.co.uk

Classical concert

  • Dorset amateur orchestra, Magna Sinfonia, perform a winter concert at Parkstone Grammar School on February 10. The event will be a celebration of some of Britain’s most famous composers and will feature Walton’s Crown Imperial March, Elgar’s Enigma Variations and Holst ‘s A Somerset Rhapsody. Tickets cost between £10 and £12.

Geology lecture

  • A lecture entitled ‘The Bournemouth District, Geology and Scenery’ will take place at the Bournemouth Natural Science Society Museum in Christchurch Road on March 26 at 7.30pm.

Hospital donation

  • Following a talk on the history and work of Great Ormond Street Hospital, Ringwood University of the Third Age (U3A) made a donation of £348.

This amount included £175 from the proceeds of the Ringwood U3A Christmas raffle.

Weekly book sale

  • St John’s Church, Purewell is open for prayer and contemplation every Saturday morning from 10am to 12pm, with a weekly sale of books and bric-a-brac.

Skittles night

  • A skittles night is being held at Mudeford Wood Community Centre in Pipers Drive from 7.30pm on Saturday, February 16. Tickets are £12 to include a Chinese supper, take your own drinks. Call 01425 272084 for tickets.
