THE National Trust is looking for people to join its team of volunteers across Purbeck – with roles available including 'Coastodians' and dog wardens.

Opportunities are available at a number of locations, including Corfe Castle and Studland Bay.

There will be two drop-in days, next weekend, where prospective volunteers can meet existing staff and other volunteers.

A National Trust spokesman explained: "On both days you’ll have the chance to meet staff and existing volunteers, find out more about the roles available, and go on a walking tour of Corfe Castle or Studland Bay.

"Help bring Corfe Castle and its exciting programme of family focused events to life as a visitor welcome volunteer, learning guide, artisan volunteer, medieval workshop volunteer, volunteer fundraiser or sewing volunteer.

"Become a Coastodian at Studland Bay. Our work is all about looking after special places for everyone to enjoy, and Coastodians are volunteers who love the coast and want to help protect it.

"As well as regular drop-in beach cleans at Studland Bay we have two new roles available – volunteer dog wardens and car park volunteers to help welcome visitors."

The National Trust also has a number of other volunteers that help maintain buildings and infrastructure across Purbeck.

"Our small but dedicated gardening group is looking for new members to help look after holiday cottage gardens throughout Purbeck and the vegetable plot which supplies our catering outlets with fresh produce," said the spokesman.

The drop-in sessions are scheduled for Saturday, February 9, at Castle View visitor centre, Corfe Castle, 11am-3pm, and at the Discovery Centre, Knoll Beach, Studland, on Sunday, February 10, from 11am-2pm.
