A PROJECT to overhaul a skate park in Christchurch are set to be opened up for the public to have their say.

Christchurch Borough Council has agreed to allocate funds for the improvement of the wheel park facilities at Two Riversmeet.

The local authority has awarded a contract for the design and installation work to Maverick Industries, a skate park company based in Poole.

Designs have been drawn up as part of this process but the council has now organised the community consultation to gauge users opinion, get feedback and help to fine tune the scheme.

All current and future users of the Two Riversmeet wheel park are invited to attend the event between 6pm and 8pm at the Civic Offices in Bridge Street on Tuesday, February 12.

Gary Foyle, Christchurch Borough Council's community and recreation team leader, said: “We are very excited to work with Maverick Industries and their team of experts, and the first stage of the project is to present the initial design to our local community of skaters and riders to gain their valuable feedback.

"Therefore we have set up this open engagement session to discuss the plans and listen to our current and future users.

"It will be a chance for everyone to understand the process that we are following, and it is important that our wheel park community have a chance to voice their opinions about the design and have their say.”

The funding for the project was approved by councillors as part of a wider play refurbishment project in July last year.
