I'M A CELEBRITY contestant Rosemary Shrager will be appearing at this year's renamed Highcliffe Food and Arts Festival.

The event, previously just the Highcliffe Food Festival, is now being expanded to showcase the arts.

Television chef Rosemary endeared herself to the nation on the popular 'reality' TV show in 2012, proving she could just about cook anything, anywhere.

However, visitors to June's festival, which is now in its fifth year, will be hoping Rosemary leaves the bush tucker off the menu.

During her professional career she worked under Pierre Hoffmann at the internationally-renowned Tante Claire restaurant in London, before running her own cookery schools.

She has been a regular fixture on UK television screens in recent years, appearing on The Real Marigold Hotel and as judge on The Big Family Cooking Showdown.

This year's Highcliffe festival will take up Lymington Road, and for the first time, Highcliffe Recreation Ground.

Organisers say this is partly to do with building work in Lymington Road.

The event will also include a new craft marquee, a sheep show and plenty of children's entertainment.

Festival founder Mary Reader said the venue changes would "enable us to expand our activities and provide more seating as well as an afternoon tea area and more children's rides.

"The cookery demonstrations, which are being sponsored by Harbour Hotels, will also move from the methodist hall into the recreation ground."

Mary also explained that, following her request last year for more help the committee had welcomed some "excellent new members" and are in the process of setting up a community interest company.

She added: "Leading the new team is Philip Lowery who has recently moved to this area from London and has a huge amount of experience running food festivals.

"Existing experienced committee members Johnetta Cooper with Terry and Susan Lester are staying on and Terry is busy creating a new website.

"Joining the team are Lorraine Walters and Katya Benedetto who with their ‘Little Craft Shack’ on-line business will organise the craft area.

"Trained actress and Highcliffe resident Emma Goodridge of VRA Entertainment is organising the music stages, which will include some old favourites and newer artists.

"She also wants to include a small children’s theatre. Also joining the team is banker Karen Trewin who is doing the vital job of treasurer and minutes secretary.

"Stall sales will once again be handled by Kean Events who have been with us for the past three years."

The Highcliffe Food and Arts Festival will take place on the weekend of June 1&2.
