TICKETS go on sale today for Bournemouth’s new community lottery.
The BH Coastal Lottery will raise money for local charities, voluntary organisations and other good causes across Bournemouth.
It is being run by Bournemouth Borough Council and will take place on a weekly basis with the first draw being held on Saturday, March 2.
Players aged over 16 will have the chance to win prizes of up to £25,000 with each ticket priced £1.
People will choose six numbers and each number will be between zero and nine.
Players who match the six numbers will win the £25,000 jackpot while those with five numbers will win £2,000.
Those who match four numbers will win £250 and those with three matches will win £25.
Each ticket has a one in 50 chance of winning a prize.
In addition to cash prizes, people will have the chance to win a break at the Bournemouth Beach Lodges.
Sixty pence from every £1 ticket will go directly to local charities and good causes.
The council said the remaining 40 pence will go towards prizes, operating costs and VAT.
So far almost 50 good causes have signed up to benefit from the lottery.
Players can choose which good cause will benefit from 50p of their £1, while 10p will go to a central community fund.
Councillor Jane Kelly, cabinet member for regeneration, said: “We are pleased to be launching the BH Coastal Lottery which will help good causes in Bournemouth raise much needed funds. The BH Coastal Lottery will attract supporters who are looking to help our local causes with the incentive of winning prizes, including the jackpot of £25,000.”
