A MAN was arrested after a car flipped over in a crash in Christchurch on Saturday night.

Police were called a single-vehicle collision in Somerford Road shortly after 10pm.

The car, a silver Subaru Impreza, overturned during the incident. The driver made off, police say.

"A man was located nearby after the crash," the spokesperson said.

"The car had overturned and was on its roof."

A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving. 

He has been released under investigation. 

No one is believed to have been seriously injured in the collision.
