CHERRIES booked their place in the final of the Central League Cup after a 2-1 win at Shrewsbury.

Goals in either half from Keelan O'Connell and Charlie Seaman secured victory despite Aaron Amadi-Holloway's headed effort for the hosts.

Shaun Cooper's side will face Fleetwood Town or Notts County in the final.

Cherries, who fielded two trialists in their starting XI, dominated the early stages and took the lead in the 22nd minute.

After a phase of slick passing, O'Connell received the ball in the penalty area and delivered a low finish beyond Shrews stopper Reice Charles-Cook.

Seaman doubled the lead five minutes into the second half with a long-range strike. The talented full-back collected the ball midway inside the opposition half before he found enough space to unleash a shot into the bottom corner.

The visitors faced late pressure after Amadi-Holloway stole in at the back post and headed home a looping cross, however they held on to go one win away from silverware.
