A Dorset Bed and Breakfast is among those to be recognised at the 2019 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice awards for Hotels.

Bindon Bottom B&B in West Lulworth was rated as the third best-rated bed and breakfast in the world, while Bay View Hotel in Weymouth was voted the third best 'bargain' hotel.

Lisa and Clive Orchard, owners of Bindon Bottom B&B, said: "What a pleasant surprise for Bindon Bottom to be so highly recognised for a third time in the TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards.

“We feel very grateful to be able to meet and accommodate guests from all over the world who have come to Lulworth Cove not only to experience England's spectacular World Heritage Jurassic Coastline, but to also admire Lulworth as one of the prettiest thatched villages in Dorset.

The Victorian country house dates back to 1871 and is a 10-minute walk away from Lulworth Cove. It was named third best in the world, an improvement on last year’s fifth place, and second best in Europe and the UK.

It is not the first time the bed and breakfast has been praised; in 2017 and 2014 it was named the best bed and breakfast in the world.

Owners Lisa and Clive Orchard set up the B&B in 2010 but put it up for sale in 2018. It is currently listed for £825,000.

Bay View Hotel in Weymouth was ranked third in the UK’s best bargain hotels and 19th in Europe.

Bernadette and Patrick Flynn run the Bay View. Mrs Flynn said: “We are very pleased to have done so well again.

“We have been here for 23 years and we are popular because unlike most other places around here we don’t put our prices up in the summer.

The 25 Boutique B&B in Torquay took the title of world’s best B&B. For the best hotel in the world, TripAdvisor awarded Tulemar Bungalows and Villas in Costa Rica the top award.
