FRUSTRATED Ringwood councillors admitted their disappointment after plans to replace a worn-out street sign in the town had been scrapped.
Ringwood's town clerk, Chris Wilkins, had asked New Forest District Council if it would be possible to refurbish the existing sign in Christchurch Road, which is positioned on the wall above The Cellar in Christchurch Road.
The sign is discoloured and difficult to read.
NFDC had said they do not engage in high-level signage, however put forward a new street-level sign.
The matter was detailed in a report to this month's meeting of Ringwood Town Council's planning committee.
Before the meeting took place NFDC informed Mr Wilkins that they had dropped the project.
Minutes published after the committee meeting said: "Members were disappointed that the existing sign, which is in very poor condition, would not be replaced by NFDC."
The matter was subsequently highlighted to Ringwood South district councillors Jeremy Heron and Steve Rippon-Swaine.
