THE Met Office is warning of icy conditions across Dorset today.

A yellow 'low impact' weather warning was issued yesterday. It was updated earlier today.

A warning, which covers a wide swathe of the UK, is now in force between 4pm today until 11am tomorrow.

The Met Office's chief forecaster said: "Ice will form in places later on Tuesday afternoon and overnight into Wednesday, especially where wintry showers leave surfaces wet. Further hail, sleet and snow showers are also likely at times.

"Accumulations of several centimetres are likely above 200 metres, mainly across western Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and northwest England. A small amount of settling snow (1 cm or less) is also possible at lower levels in a few places."

Temperatures dipped to 2C last night.

Tomorrow there will be lows of -2C and highs of 5C.

Ice will form on some surfaces, and people are being urged to take care on the roads, pavements and cycle paths.
