DEVELOPERS have revealed initial plans to build up to 250 homes on land in the New Forest.

Infinite Homes are in the early stages of formulating their designs for the site off Station Road near Fordingbridge.

The land has been allocated as a strategic site for development in the draft New Forest District Council Local Plan, but the document has not yet been adopted by the local authority.

An initial screening opinion application has been submitted to the planning authority by Infinite Homes, which outlines general details of their plans.

A statement submitted by NTR Planning on behalf of Infinite Homes said: “The proposed development is for the provision of up to 250 residential dwellings upon the site strategically designated for residential development.

“The residential development is proposed to the western ‘plateau’ of land (circa 7ha) with land to the east (circa 10ha) proposed for SANG and new public open space.

“The height of development will not exceed two and a half storeys in height and will consist of a mix of terraced, semi-detached, detached and some flatted development.”

The land earmarked for the scheme arcs around Allenbrook Nursing and Residential Care Home.

The development would require a new access road off Station Road, while emergency access could be offered through an existing route off the road which links Fordingbridge and Sandleheath.

Infinite say there will be several points of pedestrian access around the site including a new pedestrian and cycle route.

An initial public consultation was held at St Mary’s Church Hall in Fordingbridge last year with residents sharing their thoughts and concerns..

The developers hope to hold another public consultation prior to an application being submitted to New Forest District Council, which is expected to be in March.
