THE switchover to the new road layout at Poole's Hunger Hill junction is scheduled for Sunday.

Borough of Poole (BOP) contractors are currently working at the site as part of the ongoing £11.7m Townside scheme, which covers the area between the junction and Poole Bridge.

BOP has already held two drop-in sessions for residents on the switch to the new road layout.

Under the new scheme, traffic will travel along a new one-way system on West Street and West Quay Road.

The project, bankrolled by the Government's Local Growth Fund - secured through Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership - is being carried out to support future expansion of the Port of Poole.

BOP transport cabinet portfolio holder Cllr Ian Potter said: "The council has ambitious plans to revitalise the centre of Poole and this multi-million pound investment in the town’s infrastructure is a significant step towards helping us achieve this vision."
