RENEWED attempts to convert a former New Forest school headmaster's halls into a residential dwelling have been turned down.

The plans for the building in The Square, Pennington were refused New Forest District Council planners.

The application attempted to address the issues raised by the local authority when it refused a previous scheme for the site earlier in 2018.

However, a council planning officer found the applicants again failed to conform with a policy relating to the loss of an employment site.

The officer's report says: "The proposal does not provide sufficient justification for going against this policy."

The applicants had argued the current business use for the premises was not viable.

They claimed an estate agents marketing campaign had proved there was no demand for this use.
