THIS striking image shows the Milky Way as viewed from Hengistbury Head.
The picture was taken last August by Tom Ormerod, 40, from Southbourne, who is a member of the Daily Echo’s Camera Club.
A timelapse of his time at Hengistbury Head has also been created.
It was captured during the annual Perseid meteor shower which was an added draw for Tom, and if you look closely a single meteor can be seen in the top left of the image.
Hobby photographer Tom, who works as an IT consultant, said the ‘core’ of the Milky Way - the multicoloured centre - is not visible between the months of November and March but he is already planning his next photo opportunity.
He said: “I’m looking at when it will be available. I can’t wait for it.”
