WITH reference to the article on January 2, I do agree with Cllr David Harrison about the total inadequacy of the £400 fine imposed on the individual caught tipping rubble and household rubbish in Burbush car park near Burley.
But your earlier report on this same matter stated that the council would not name the culprit, as “by accepting the fixed penalty notice and fine, he has discharged his responsibility”.
I find this statement quite extraordinary.
Only by naming and shaming those responsible will the problem start to be tackled.
Otherwise, with the relatively modest fines being imposed, fly tippers will no doubt continue their activities with complete impunity.
