FUTURE students at Brockenhurst College will be able to study A-level animation from next year, it has been announced.

The new course will make its debut in the 2019/20 academic year and will see the college expand its sixth form learning provision even further.

Learners will explore historical and modern contexts of animation along with notable works such as Rick and Morty, Wallace and Gromit and Disney films.

They will also learn animation techniques including stop motion, rotoscoping and 3D title sequencing.

Animation is a growing media area, and the new programme is designed to help students pursue careers in film production, graphic design and app design, among other areas.

Head of Curriculum in Art, Design & Photomedia, Tom Hamilton, said: “We already have a popular Animation Enrichment option, so expanding this offering to A Level offers even more opportunities.

“Students who opt to study this exciting new digital course will have access to state-of-the-art equipment and be taught by lecturers who have professional and academic backgrounds within the creative sector,” he added.
